Blimey! I see Yoko Ono is 80 today. Who can believe it? I met her once backstage at her gig in New York. She wanted to meet me. I was ushered into a tiny dressing room, where she was sat cross-legged on a table, looking pretty serene and elfin-like. Sean was there, too - he was twelve - and I had just worked with Julian Lennon. I was chatting with her, when the door to the dressing room slowly opened back on itself... to reveal Andy Warhol. Meeting him, and shaking hands while surveying his wig - he had that sort of "soft liver handshake" - it was quite surreal. He took my Polaroid - God, I would want to see that!
Anyway, Happy Birthday, Yoko! (Any friend of John's is a friend of mine.)
